Commission us!

Whilst the majority of our community development projects take place to benefit people living in the Brandwood neighbourhoods of Birmingham, we are also available to deliver commissions in other parts of the city.

We specialise in running woodworking workshops with a community building twist. Our in-house woodworking tutor Andy loves to ’empower-tool’ beginners to use tools safely, learn woodworking skills and build things they can feel proud of.

The workshops can be one-off experiences at events, or longer team-building projects over a few weeks or months.

We also take on commissions to create bespoke wooden art and activity trails.

Please get in touch if you would like to explore projects with us!

Examples of commissioned projects

Our Scene CIC was commissioned to work with citizens in Billesley to build 21 planters from scratch over 6 weeks for distribution across the ward for floral displays as part of their ‘in-bloom’ initiative.

Our Scene CIC was commissioned to create the Swirly Smile Activity Trail by Birmingham Open Spaces Forum as part of their City of Nature Project in Kingston Hill Local Park.

Our Scene CIC was commissioned to run bird box making workshops at the Crafting Connections event at Stirchley Baths. A great introduction to tools as well as something to take home.

Examples of other activity trails we have made

Nature Doors

Working with local young artists to produce acrylic artwork on wood, we created ‘Nature Doors’ which were distributed around Lifford Reservoir for families and walkers to find. There was a web-based activity trail linked to QR codes for this trail, but they can just be wonderful things for families to discover as they enjoy fresh air and being close to nature.

Web-based Trails

With funding from Sport England we created a series of web-based activity trails designed to help people explore their local green spaces in a fun and smile-making way! Using dedicated web pages and clear instructions means there is no dependency on finding objects that may go missing. We are happy to host new trails for your group.

Art Trails

Temporary wooden art trails provide a splash of colour and a activity which are loved by people of all ages out walking in their local park!

Pick your theme and we can design and cut them out, either for you to paint yourselves, or for and engagement project with local artists or schools, as in this example. We can provide photography and gallery space on our website and design a paper-based activity for events too!
